X RAY RIGHT HIP WITH THIGH AP AND LATERAL VIEW

AP (anteroposterior) and lateral views are standard hip X‑rays. The AP view is taken front-to-back with the patient supine, showing both pelvises, hip joints, femoral heads, necks and acetabula to assess alignment and degenerative change. Lateral (side) views — commonly frog‑leg or cross‑table lateral — visualize the femoral head–neck junction and anterior/posterior displacement, aiding fracture and impingement assessment.

AP (anteroposterior) and lateral are common X‑ray projections. In an AP view the beam enters the front and exits the back of the body, often used when patients cannot stand; it can magnify anterior structures. The lateral view directs the beam from one side to the other, providing a side profile that separates overlapping anatomy and helps localize lesions and assess depth and alignment.

A right hip and thigh X-ray is an imaging test that uses low-dose radiation to show the bones and joints of the right hip, femur (thigh bone), and nearby soft tissues. The lateral hip X‑ray is a side view that visualizes the femoral head, neck and proximal femur. It’s commonly obtained as a frog‑leg lateral (patient supine with the hip flexed ~45°, abducted and externally rotated) or as a cross‑table lateral for trauma (supine, unaffected hip flexed, horizontal beam). It helps assess femoral‑neck fractures, head alignment and joint space.

An AP lateral refers to two common X‑ray projections used together—anteroposterior (AP) and lateral—to image the chest or other body parts. The AP view sends the beam front‑to‑back (often used for bedridden or portable exams) and can magnify structures; the lateral view is a side projection that adds depth, helps localize lesions, and detects effusions or overlapping pathology.

Lateral hip pain is pain on the outer side of the hip, commonly caused by greater trochanteric pain syndrome (tendinopathy or inflamed bursa), iliotibial band strain, or referred pain from the spine. It causes tenderness over the greater trochanter, worse with lying on that side, walking or climbing stairs. Treatment includes activity modification, pain relief, physiotherapy, weight management and sometimes steroid injections or surgery.
