X RAY DORSO LUMBER SPINE AP AND LATERAL VIEW

A dorso‑lumbar lateral view is a side radiographic projection of the thoraco‑lumbar spine that images the dorsal (thoracic) and lumbar vertebrae in profile. It shows vertebral body alignment, intervertebral disc spaces, posterior elements and soft‑tissue shadows. Used to detect fractures, dislocations, degenerative change, spondylolisthesis and kyphosis. Patient is positioned upright or in lateral decubitus.

AP (anteroposterior) view means the X‑ray beam passes from the front to the back of the body; it’s often done with the patient lying or standing and can alter apparent size of structures (e.g., the heart may look larger). The lateral view is taken from the side, showing depth and spatial relationships. Both views together help localize abnormalities and improve diagnostic accuracy.

X-ray LS spine AP and lateral is radiographic imaging of the lumbosacral (lower back) region using front-to-back (AP) and side (lateral) views. It evaluates fractures, alignment, arthritis, disc-space narrowing, spondylolisthesis, and spinal degeneration. The exam is quick, noninvasive, requires removing metal and pregnancy screening, and images are interpreted by a radiologist to guide diagnosis and management.

An AP (anteroposterior) view of the lumbar spine is a frontal X‑ray taken with the beam passing from front to back to visualize vertebral bodies, disc spaces, pedicles and spinal alignment. It helps detect fractures, deformity, degenerative changes, spondylolisthesis and scoliosis. The image is obtained with the patient standing or supine, centered over the lumbar region to include T12 through the sacrum.

Dorso‑lumbar refers to the junctional region of the spine where the lower thoracic (dorsal) vertebrae meet the upper lumbar vertebrae—roughly the T10–L2 levels. It denotes the posterior lower‑back area and is used in anatomy, imaging, and clinical descriptions because this transition zone bears high mechanical stress and is commonly involved in injuries, fractures, and degenerative conditions causing back pain.

The four standard lumbar spine views are: 1. Anteroposterior (AP) — frontal view showing alignment and vertebral body heights. 2. Lateral — profile view for disc spaces, vertebral bodies, and the spinal canal. 3. Oblique — visualizes facet joints and the pars interarticularis. 4. Flexion–extension (dynamic) — assesses segmental instability or spondylolisthesis on bending. These are commonly obtained as radiographs to evaluate back pain, trauma, degenerative change and instability.
