X RAY BOTH LOWER LIMBS AP VIEW

A lower limb X‑ray is a plain radiograph of the hip, thigh, knee, leg, ankle or foot used to evaluate bones and joints. It detects fractures, dislocations, arthritis, bone infections and abnormal bone growth. The test is quick, noninvasive and uses low‑dose ionizing radiation; multiple views may be taken. Preparation is minimal, and results guide treatments like casting, surgery or further imaging.

AP view stands for anterior–posterior. In an AP chest or X‑ray the X‑ray beam passes from the front (anterior) of the patient to the back (posterior) onto the detector. It’s commonly used for bedridden or supine patients. AP films can magnify the heart and mediastinum compared with PA views, so interpretation should account for positioning and potential distortion.

An X-ray scanogram of both lower limbs is a specialized full-length radiograph used to measure limb-length differences and assess hip–knee–ankle alignment. Typically taken standing (weight-bearing) with sequential exposures stitched into one image, it accurately measures femur and tibia lengths for diagnosis and surgical planning (e.g., limb-length correction or joint replacement). It uses low-dose X-rays and is quick and noninvasive.

Confirm patient details and correct views (AP, lateral); include the whole limb. Assess alignment and joint congruency. Trace cortical outline and trabecular pattern for fractures, comminution, displacement, angulation, or bone loss. Evaluate joint spaces, growth plates in children, and soft tissues (swelling, fat‑pad signs). Compare with the opposite side when uncertain and correlate clinically; request further imaging if needed.
