It helps detect bladder outlet obstruction (e.g., enlarged prostate, urethral stricture), poor bladder contractility or neurogenic bladder, and abnormal voiding patterns that cause urinary symptoms. Before your uroflowmetry, drink enough fluid in the hour beforehand so your bladder feels comfortably full but not painful; don’t urinate until the test.
